Georgia football is undefeated against Notre Dame
While Notre Dame isn’t officially in a football conference, they are still considered a Power-5 team, and Georgia’s three matchups with the Fighting Irish were all some fantastically played football games.
In the 1981 Sugar Bowl, Herschel and the Dawgs took down Notre Dame to win the first national championship since 1941. That was the one and only meeting until the schools scheduled a home-and-home series for the 2017 and 2019 seasons.
In 2017, Georgia traveled to South Bend in what was one of the greatest takeovers of an away venue ever seen. The Bulldog Nation turned out in force and made Notre Dame Stadium look like a home venue for the Dawgs in a thrilling 20-19 win that really set things in motion for Georgia’s run of success in recent years.
The 2019 game played at Sanford Stadium was just as competitive and widely watched, with Georgia taking down the Irish 23-17 in front of a raucous home crowd of Dawg fans.
Chances are, we’ll see UGA and ND meet up again in the postseason with the expanded College Football Playoff.
