It was a short run with one of the better names in College football. Smoke Bouie is no longer with the Georgia Football program.

Boiue was a transfer defensive back from Texas A&M. He was a highly-rated recruit out of Kirby Smart’s hometown of Bainbridge, Georgia. It also seems that both parties agreed to split up, which I am not sure what that actually means.

There was talk about Bouie being in a backup spot when the season got started, so maybe that’s why he left.  Who knows at this point?

There have been issues off the field issues at Texas A&M and at Georgia. A&M suspended him for a game for an infraction. At Georgia, he was in the car when Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint was arrested for speeding.

Just yesterday Texas A&M players at media days spoke glowingly about Bouie.

These situations always suck for everyone. The player, the teams, the coaches, and even the fans.  But whatever the reasons were, hopefully, Bouie gets back to playing football. He was one of four transfers Georgia had on their rosters. And he was one of two players on defense who were transfers.

Georgia is loaded with a ton of talent at Defensive back. Bouie was a 4-star guy and was looking to play a backup spot, that tells you how talented that spot on the roster is. Georgia should be fine, but losing that type of talented depth does sting. I’m sure Smart would tell you the same if he were, to be honest with you.

Julian Humphries, A.J. Harris, Daylen Everette, and Nyland Green are all highly recruited and talented backs that should fill the void of Bouie leaving.
