That’s a wrap on SEC Media Days.

There was not anything that was extremely newsworthy or exciting that came out of Nashville this week. For Georgia, it seemed as though there was finally some positivity around the program. Which has not been the case this off-season. Possibly the most negative off-season for the defending national champions ever.

Today, the results of the media vote came out. Georgia is the overwhelming SEC East favorite and the overwhelming favorite to win the SEC. LSU and Alabama were a coin flip out of the West. The closest team predicted to win the SEC title other than Georgia, was Alabama.

There is a lot of hype going into this season for Georgia. Some in the media have basically crowned Georgia and put them in the playoffs. As we all know that is not how any of this works. You have to play the games. In the past, I would be scared out of my mind. I would worry how Georgia would lose a game they shouldn’t and the entire season derailed because of that.

This is a different program. The Larry Munson Gene is not needed anymore. But for some reason, it still exists. I know it exists for many of you reading this post. We are Georgia fans, we are negative, but also brash. That’s why most of us, outside of Bama fans, are the most hated. That’s ok, It’s good to be hated.

Georgia football is starting to be hated too. There is fatigue with Georgia winning. That’s why opposing fanbases, whose teams are on our schedule, complain that our schedule is easy. The only reason why Georgia’s schedule is easy is because Georgia can’t play Georgia.

With Georgia being the heavy preseason favorites it worries me a little bit. As I said, Larry Musnson still speaks to me. But Kirby has said and so have the players, that they are going to call out complacency. “Better never rest” that’s the new mantra. To continue winning Georgia needs to call out the complacency and also say they are chasing history. That’s ok. Many would find it braggadocious or cocky, but it’s not. It’s the reality of the situation.

The last two times where there was a chance for three-peats, it came inches away. USC would have won 3 in a row in the early 2000s if they could have tackled Vince Young and gotten a 4th and inches with LenDale White. Alabama would have played for a third in a row if the Kick-six didn’t happen.

Kirby probably learned this lesson when he was at Alabama in 2013, that you can control what you can control. That’s why Smart and his staff are only worried about Georgia. If the Dawgs are to win their third consecutive title, they have to worry about themselves and they should be fine.

Talking season is almost over. Football season is almost here. I can’t wait.
