Georgia Football: Running back Should be The concern rather Than QB
By Max Tolbert
What is the one thing Georgia football is known for? Running Backs. This season is unlike many seasons before because Georgia does not have “the” running back.
The depth of the running back core is something to worry about. Kendall Milton, who was a highly-rated player out of California, has flashed but has not had a dominant season. That could very well change this season.
But Milton has been at Georgia for 3 years and has not had that game where you go “Wow”. Hopefully, that changes. I’ve had high hopes for him ever since he signed for Georgia. Also, it seems Milton is plagued by injuries.
Every year it feels like he has gotten sidelined with an injury. Which sucks, because he never had the chance to show what he is like 100%.
Branson Robinson is another guy with a high ceiling. Hailing from Mississippi, Robinson was highly recruited. However, his freshman campaign was lackluster. Robinson looks like Nick Chubb, but so far has not produced like him. We will see if he is the back many felt like he could be.
Daijun Edwards out of Colquitt County, was not a highly recruited guy; was only a three-star. So far, has been the best back out of the bunch. Hampered by injury at the end of the year, Edwards looked like a different back and seemed to lose steam at the end of the year.
Andrew Paul out of Dallas, Texas is another guy who had a ton of hype around him, but injury has plagued the start of his career at Georgia. We have not seen anything from Paul, so the jury is still out on him.
When Kirby starts to talk about Cash Jones, we have depth issues. No offense to Cash Jones. He could be the next Stetson Bennett, but it is an uncomfortable feeling knowing your 4th string running back is getting looks for playing time.
So what is going to happen? Is Milton finally going to have that breakout season and be the star we thought he could be? Is it going to be Robinson, Paul, or Edwards? For Georgia to win a national title for the third year in a row, Georgia needs its running backs to perform.
Rather than fans worrying about a QB battle that is basically wrapped up. Georgia fans need to be worried about who or whomst is going the bell cow at running back
