Georgia Football loses Branson Robinson for a whole year. This is terrible news not only for Robinson, who was expected to have a big season with the Dawgs. But it is bad news for the Georgia offense that is already looking at running back depth issues.
Smart told the media that Robinson is going to miss the year with a ruptured patella tendon. Different from an ACL or MCL, but just as bad if not worse. However, I’m not a doctor, so what do I know?
The eyes of the Bulldog nation turn to Roderick Robinson and Andrew Paul. Those guys are about to get a ton of carries this season and more importantly, they are going to play a lot early in the season. With Milton still hampered by injury, I would expect Edwards to be the starter and then Robinson and Paul to be in the rotation.
Both Paul and Robinson are unknowns right now, but there is concern about if they will be able to perform. Look, we might have the next Walter Payton on our hands, but neither of those guys has taken a meaningful snap in a game yet.
Because of this, I would not be shocked to see Cash Jones. Just be ready for that. I also believe we are going to see Brock Bowers become a running back of sorts. I would not be surprised if we see a lot more jet sweeps early on in the season.
If Milton is ready to go soon, Georgia has two quality backs. But if Milton or Edwards miss any time in the future Georgia is going to have some serious issues at running back. My inner Larry Munson is saying some really depressing things right now.
