Week 4: UAB

Georgia Football, MJ Sherman
ATHENS, GA – SEPTEMBER 11: UAB Blazer quarterback Dylan Hopkins #9 tries to evade UGA Bulldog linebacker MJ Sherman #8 in the backfield during a game at Sanford Stadium after a game between University of Alabama Birmingham Blazers and University of Georgia Bulldogs at Sanford Stadium on September 11, 2021 in Athens, Georgia. I will hold myself to the same standard as I did when writing about UT-Martin and Ball State. I will not give you a breakdown of the team. You’re not going to read it nor do you really care, and frankly nor do I. But it is cool that UAB is back from the dead. Remember when they just stopped playing football? Anyway, the Blazers have been back for a few seasons and were led by Bill Clark, who retired for health reasons in 2021. UAB is now led by Trent Dilfer. Yes, that Trent Dilfer. The super bowl winning QB, Trent Dilfer. I guess that will be interesting to see how Dilfer coaches. Outside of that this game should be over by the time they kick the ball off. Georgia should put in the back-ups early in the third quarter and everyone in Athens is happy.  Let’s learn about notable UAB alumni. Now if you’re a Falcons fan then you know Roddy White went to UAB. Hopefully, most of your fellow tailgaters know that one. But, Sam Hunt, a country music artist, also went to UAB. Also, according to Wikipedia an associate professor at UGA, John Knox went to UAB. Knox is a meteorologist and studies clear-air turbulence. Which is the most dangerous, I think? Who cares, I have a fear of flying, so I don’t really want to know. Speaking of being afraid of flying UAB will be afraid that Mykel Williams will fly back to Birmingham with them after the game. Dawgs win 55-7
