Georgia Football and Shane Beamer are still connected to this day. Beamer, the former tight ends and special teams coach for Georgia, was asked about his memories at the school.

Beamer and the entire Georgia fan base still think about Tyler Simmons being onsides. Two national championships have come our way, but I often think about that call like Beamer.

Smart would have had at least three championships and maybe more if Georgia beats Alabama in Atlanta. What would happen in 2018, 2019, and 2020 if Georgia had won that title in 2017? It is an endless rabbit hole that is not healthy to think about.

This was a tactic by Beamer to soften the Georgia fan’s ire when the Gamecocks come to town. Do not be fooled by Beamer’s “ah shucks” persona.

Beamer wants to beat Georgia with a burning desire. Beamer is trying to make Dawg fans sleepwalk into Sanford Stadium on Saturday afternoon. It’s a great ploy by Beamer to make Georgia fans feel like he is one of us, but I will not be fooled.

However, Beamer is right. Tyler Simmons was onsides. The Big Ten ref that called the penalty said it was the wrong call a few years later. Thanks for saying it was the wrong call years later, buddy. This also brings me to another point about claiming national titles. Georgia could say it won the 2017 championship, but we are not Alabama or UCF, so we won’t claim fake titles. But Georgia claims only four national titles, while Georgia should claim 7 championships.

It has been a minor annoyance of mine for a few years now. Georgia won national titles in 1920, 1927, and 1946. For those history nuts like myself, I will not claim the 1966 title only because Georgia tied in two games and lost their bowl game. So, the ‘68 title claim, which I ignore.

The 1920 Georgia team outscored their opponents a combined 250-17. That 1920 team never lost a game and tied Virginia in a 0-0 game. To me, that is a national champion.

In 1927, the Dream and Wonder Team was undefeated until Tech cheated. Tech, in typical Tech fashion, screwed themselves because of their cheating; Georgia decided to build Sanford and make Tech come to Athens instead of going to Atlanta annually for the game. Again, that is a national championship title.

The 1946 Georgia team got cheated out of a national title because college football writers who voted had a thing against southern football teams. I would say some mean things about yankees and their play of the sport, but I like my job. The ‘46 team had an 11–0 record and outscored opponents by 392 to 110. Furthermore, Charley Trippi got cheated out of a Heisman Trophy because, once again, northern voters had a thing against southerners. So Georgia needs to add those three titles to the list. I am tired of being the good guys; everyone else hates us, so play into it.

Anyway, do not fall for Shane Beamer’s mind games. Beamer is trying to make us soft and make us go easy on Saturday. Beamer knows Tonka messed up and is trying to smooth things over.  Georgia fans are too smart for that, and on Saturday, Sanford Stadium will be the loudest place on earth.
