If you have not seen the clip of Kirby Smart’s halftime speech toward the Georgia football team, it is unlike most speeches Kirby Smart is known for.

Many on social media have reacted to the halftime speech. One person out there gave Deion Sanders credit for the speech. As we all know, Kirby Smart is influenced by Coach Prime. Soon, Sanders will be credited with creating the forward pass and CFB.

Anyway, back to Smart’s speech. I, and probably many of you, would think Smart would be in at halftime and give a fire and brimstone-type speech. Seeing how they played in the first half, I would have told them none had scholarships. But Smart, being smart (see what I did there), he was cool, calm, and collected.

We have all heard the fiery speeches pre-game. Those pre-game speeches make you want to commit violent crimes. But this speech made you feel good and believe in your coaches and teammates. I know Kirby does not need my approval and, for that matter, anybody else’s. However, the way he handled the moment was extraordinary.

Being down 11 points at home at the half, and you were a 27-point favorite, has to be a tough pill to swallow. If anybody has ever played the game, usually there is a ton of finger-pointing in the locker room when you are losing. The Georgia players did not do that; it was calm, with offense on one side and defense on the other.

Do you want to talk about culture? That is culture. That is why Georgia is the back-to-back champs. Players holding guys accountable, and coaches believing in the men on the field will get the job done. That is the difference between the University of Georgia and everyone else.

I did want to thank South Carolina. But not for choking an 11-point lead, but for trying to hire Kirby Smart in 2015. Thank you. Without you, Georgia Football would not have any of the success it is having right now. Georgia would have never hired Kirby Smart and probably never made a move to move on from the Richt era. So thank you, South Carolina, for hiring our now Co-Defensive Coordinator, Will Muschamp. Georgia football would not be where it is if not for you.
