Georgia Football: Week 4 best bets and predictions
By Max Tolbert
It is week four for Georgia football and for the rest of college football. We are almost halfway through the CFB season, which is sad but exciting. Week 4 is the best slate this season, so enjoy it, folks! The weather is getting cooler, and the humidity in the South is starting to go away. So, wherever you are in the world, enjoy this week of college football. It is time for the weekly picks for college football. Last week was a decent week for this blogger. Outside of Tennessee embarrassing itself inside The Swamp, I went 2-1. Overall, for the year, I am 5-7. Not bad, not superb either. So, I need to win at least 90% of my bets this week to get above .500. That is all you can ask for when you bet. Alright, let’s get into some picks.
FSU vs. Clemson (+2.0) over/under 55.0- Ceasers
- Date: September 23, 2023
- Game Time: 12:00 pm
- Venue: Memorial Stadium- Death Valley (Clemson, SC)
- How to Watch: ABC
- Streaming on fuboTV
Clemson is a home dog, but only by 2 points. Vegas is telling you they do not believe in Clemson. The only reason the spread is this low a number is because Clemson is playing in Death Valley.
The Noles played a stinker of a game last week against BC. Now the game was at Noon, in a sleepy BC home environment. Jordan Travis, who is squarely in the Heisman conversation, dodged a massive bullet when he hurt his non-throwing shoulder. Travis was injured in the 1st half but returned in the 2nd half to beat BC. Travis will not miss any playing time and will start against the Tigers.
Duke crushed Clemson, and I cannot shake that game off. Dabo and Clemson have been in the decline for the last three years and not climbing back atop the mountain. I saw what FSU did to a good LSU team. FSU is going to beat Clemson by at least two scores. Am I slightly biased? Yes. I used to get FSU stuff for Christmas every year from a family member who lived in Tallahassee. They knew nothing about me other than I liked college football. I wanted a Knowshon Moreno Georgia football jersey, not a Christian Ponder FSU jersey! But I have always followed FSU football because of that. Anyway, I’ll take the Noles and the under.
Auburn vs. Texas A&M (-7.5) over/under 50.5- Ceasers
- Date: September 23, 2023
- Game Time: 12:00 pm
- Venue: Kyle Field (College Station, TX)
- How to Watch: ESPN
- Streaming on fuboTV
This is one of those games where I could be really wrong. It will be embarrassingly wrong. But I really like the Aggies in this one. I know that A&M is a dumpster fire, and Jimbo Fisher is coaching for his job every day now. But the Aggies could be in Atlanta in December. Well, they have a chance.
I watched Auburn at Dark Thirty play against Cal. Auburn has no offense right now. Watch next week when they play Georgia; they will. Auburn fans think they will relive the 2013 season with a first-year Auburn Head Coach taking them to the CFP title game. But their fantasy is about to be a nightmare.
I just do not see Auburn pulling off this big of an upset on the road yet. The Auburn program is just not there yet. I know nothing about A&M roster-wise, but it is better than Auburn. So Gig ‘em, Give me the Aggies and the Under.
Ole Miss vs. Alabama (-6.5) over/under 55.5- Ceasers
- Date: September 23, 2023
- Game Time: 3:30 pm
- Venue: Bryant-Denny Stadium (Tuscaloosa, AL)
- How to Watch: CBS
- Streaming on fuboTV
The dynasty is dead Pawwwl! The sky is falling over in Alabama, and I am enjoying the heck out of it. Did you see them against USF? Boy, Oh boy! Did the mighty Tide stink it up! All that talk in the off-season about that O-line and going back to murder ball really disappeared! What happened to Kirk Herbstreit singing Saban’s praises? I want to put this storyline out there. That faithful night in Indianapolis, Georgia football, killed the Alabama dynasty. You are welcome college football.
The wrong team is favored in this one. Ole Miss is the better team right now. On paper, Alabama is the more talented team. But a lot is going wrong at Bama, and I feel like some guys on the team have already quit. That is pure speculation on my part. Lane Kiffin has been talking a lot of trash on the old Twitter machine this week, and Lane needs to back it up. Hotty Toddy, Y’all! I think Ole Miss beats Alabama, and mayhem breaks across Alabama. I cannot wait till Monday and listen to Bama fans cry on the Paul Finebaum show. Oh the joy!
Ohio State vs. Notre Dame (+3.0) over/under 55.5- Ceasers
- Date: September 23, 2023
- Game Time: 7:30 pm
- Venue: Notre Dame Stadium (South Bend, IL)
- How to Watch: NBC
- Streaming on fuboTV
This game has everything: two historic programs, a historic venue, and two good teams. In its first four games, Notre Dame has been one of the most impressive teams in college football. Sam Hartman looks like the real deal at QB for the Irish and could be the Heisman front-runner with a win on Saturday. Ohio State has not played anybody of note yet (don’t tell Urban Meyer), but the Buckeyes are extremely talented. Ohio State has one of if not the best wide receivers in the game with Marvin Harrison Jr.
I have a deep hatred for Ohio State and their fan base. The other day in Congress, their AD whined again about Bullard’s hit on Harrison Jr. How many more times will we hear about “what if’s” from that fan base? Ohio State has had slow starts in a few games, and the Ohio State fans are worried about their offense. Sounds familiar to Georgia fans. I picked Notre Dame to be in the playoffs this year, and I still believe in them to do it. They need this win to keep those hopes alive. I also think the Irish are the better team. So I’ll take Notre Dame and the over. Sadly, I will watch very little of this game since Georgia is on simultaneously. Why is Georgia playing UAB at night? Can we play a real team at night? UAB should be a noon kick. Sorry, not Sorry.
There you have it! Weeks four picks are in. I wanted to put Oregon vs. Colorado in this week’s picks, but Oregon will blow out the Buffs. But I am glad Coach Prime invented how to deal with crowd noise when you play on the road. What a genius!
But in all seriousness, enjoy this week of games. We wait months for this CFB to return, and it goes by quickly. So, enjoy every minute; I will if only Bobo gets Georgia football to score 50 points.
