Georgia football: How to watch Georgia vs. UAB
By Max Tolbert
Georgia football kickoffs today against UAB at 7:30. The game will be broadcast on ESPN 2. Georgia is a 42-point favorite in this matchup against the Blazers. It’s a big number to cover, so we will see if the Dawgs can cover this large spread.
The announcers for the Georgia vs. UAB game are Brian Custer, Rod Gilmore, and Lauren Sisler (sideline). On a personal note, I do not like Rod Gilmore. He is on par with Gary Danielson. So, for the fans watching at home, enjoy getting annoyed by Gilmore. Usually, Gilmore does the PAC-12 night games, but Georgia fans got lucky.
Georgia last played UAB in 2021. The Dawgs went on to win 56-7. You may remember that JT Daniels was hurt and would miss the game against the Blazers. Many believed that Carson Beck would get his first start. How funny is it that Beck is finally starting against the Blazers? Instead, it was announced Stetson Bennett would be the starter for the game. Georgia Twitter was very upset; there were groans across the entire Dawg nation, myself included.
Stetson killed the noise, threw for a remarkable five touchdowns, and had 288 yards passing. We knew little then, but we were all about to have a magical season in 2021.
UAB head coach Trent Dilfer compared the atmosphere of a night SEC game to the Super Bowl. Dilfer said, “An SEC football game at night has a way better atmosphere than a Super Bowl.” Dilfer famously led the 2000 Baltimore Ravens to a Super Bowl.
Playing in front of 40,000 people and then suddenly playing 93,000 people is a massive deal. I’m sure this moment for UAB players will be something that they will never forget. However, it will be just another game inside Sanford Stadium for Georgia. We will see if the night game atmosphere lives up to the hype.
