Georgia Football: Dawgs getting healthy at the right time
By Max Tolbert
Georgia football has something to be hopeful for this week against Auburn. Ladd McConkey and Kendall Milton look to both be returning from injury. Now, how much either one of the guys plays is unknown.
McConkey has looked good in practice, according to Kirby Smart. Smart said that the team is in the stages of getting him back. McConkey needs to get into football shape before he can play on Saturday. McConkey more than likely becomes a game-time decision for the Auburn game. McConkey will likely travel with the team to Jordan-Hare minus any setbacks.
Kendall Milton also could play in Saturday’s game against Auburn. Milton has had an MCL injury the past few weeks and looks to be practicing finally. Milton was able to cut and run some in practice this week. However, Roderick Robison could not do much in practice and has spent most of his time on the training table. Robison is trying to come back from an ankle sprain. So it still seems that Georgia will lean on Dillion Bell and Cash “Money” Jones to tote the ball.
On the defensive side, Javon Bullard looks to be on his way back. Bullard missed the previous two games with an ankle injury. Bullard was able to practice and go through the majority of drills. He was not able to go when the team went good-on-good. Smart said that McConkey, Milton, and Bullard all seem like they are all close to playing again.
So, the Dawgs seem to be getting healthier at the right time. This is excellent news; hopefully, by the end of October, Georgia will return most of the injured players. Georgia has been hurt all season, and to finally start getting healthy before the heart of SEC play is fantastic.
Most of the pundits still believe that Georgia is a mystery team. Given their talent gap against their opponents, it has raised the question of whether Georgia is that good. Those questions might go out the window with a healthier Georgia football team.
Last week, we started seeing this Georgia team put it all together. It was obvious on the offensive side of the ball to me. Could the game against Auburn be a transcendence of a great team? This game has the potential to be that moment for the Dawgs. Having McConkey, Milton, and Bullard back would sure help the cause. We will see on Saturday if they can go.
