It’s Sunday afternoon, and Georgia Football is 7-0 for the third year in a row. But not everything is hunky-dory among the Georgia fan base. There is a ton of panic and Munson-like comments about Flordia in two weeks. Look, I know it is easy to get down on the Dawgs, especially after not covering the spread against Vanderbilt.

But I think this Georgia team is in the mix to win a title. Yes, Georgia is not as good as it was the past two seasons, but that does not exclude it from a title. Have you seen the rest of college football? Who would beat Georgia on a neutral field? I’m not talking about making the game close; I am talking about beating the Dawgs. As of right now, I don’t think it is anybody. But I could be a delusional Georgia fan.

The offense played well yesterday, even when Brock Bowers was out with the injury. The offense can lean on Carson Beck to get the job done. I am unsure what Beck’s numbers are compared to Stetson Bennetts, but he is playing better. Georgia offensively had 552 yards total in the game and never punted. If you are one of the fans still upset about Bobo and Beck, you are the problem. This offense is sound structurally. The only complaint is that the offense is sloppy at times.

The two turnovers and kicking three field goals are why the game was close. But I do not base my feelings on a game because of the spread. But if the interception late in the ball game doesn’t happen, and Georgia does not elect to take the knee in the third quarter, Georgia is covering the spread.

But I’m not going to worry about the offense at all. Can the sloppiness be fixed? Yeah, and I think it will be fixed. Let’s see how everyone feels Saturday night after the Florida game before we jump to the negatives.

Defensively, this was a decent game for the group. Georgia only gave up 219 yards. Vandy only had 18 yards rushing. 18 yards! That is incredible, no matter who you play. I know a lot of Georgia fans are worried about this defense, and I could be 100% wrong about this; the defense plays left-handed when going against inferior opponents.

I know we will never get Kirby Smart to admit it, but you can tell Georgia is working on whatever the weaknesses are on defense. The different packages and looks the Dawgs were doing on defense against Vandy Saturday have not been seen all year. In my heart of hearts, I believe that the defensive staff wants to work on their weaknesses for later down the road.

Furthermore, the defense was way better last week against Kentucky than against Vandy. I cannot fathom why. So, that is why I am sticking to my conspiracy theory. Again, for the folks worrying about Florida, the Gators offense does not match up well against the Dawgs defense. But everyone can continue to be negative and say this team will never win anything. I have believed that Georgia will win a national title every year of my life, and I rather hurt knowing I believed. That was Ted Lasso line, if I have ever written one.

Georgia won against Vanderbilt in an odd environment. I will not complain about winning. The only reason that Georgia fans complain about this is that they did not win by enough. I remember a time when we were all happy when the Dawgs would get a win on the road. I also remember a time when we would go up to Nashville and barely win or lose. Remember 2007, 2011, and 2013? I do, and I am glad we didn’t have anything close to that. So we move on to the bye week and the hated Gators.

This Georgia team will be fine; they should win this five-game stretch they are about to play. Hopefully, the bye week provides the Dawgs with health, and Brock Bowers heals up to run all over that Gators defense. Relax for the fans out there who think Georgia cannot win another national title. Georgia will show you why they are still the favorites to win the whole thing in a few weeks. I genuinely think we are about to see the best of the Dawgs in the coming weeks.

Hot. Sleepy Dawgs win in Nashville. light
