Georgia Football: CFB bets and predictions week 8
By Max Tolbert
It is week 8 for college football, and Georgia Football is on a much-needed off-week. We are now on the “back nine” of the college football season, which is crazy. Teams will start separating themselves from contenders or pretenders in the next few weeks. This time of year is the best time of year; mid-fall may be the most incredible time for sports and football. I am ready for the following weeks as a fan of college football.
Last week was terrible for this guy. I went 0-3 on my big picks. I mean, a monkey throwing darts could do better at picking games. However, I did add three games to the card, and I hit two of the three added. The two winners were Arkansas +20 and Notre Dame -3. A Monkey throwing darts couldn’t do that! So, for the season, I am 11-16.Five games away from .500. I am deep in a hole. Who knows if I will get out, but I will try! Let’s get to week 8 picks!
Penn State vs. Ohio State (-4.5) over/under 45.5- Ceasers
- Date: October 21, 2023
- Game Time: 12:00 pm
- Venue: Ohio Stadium (Columbus, Ohio)
- How to Watch: Fox

I am a big fan of Penn State this year. I am a fan of Drew Allar, the QB for the Nittany Lions. Also, I am a big fan of their defense. I also picked them to be in the playoffs in August. So that is probably a dead giveaway who will win this game. But hear me out for a little longer; I have sound reasoning. Ohio State is not that great of a team; they should have lost to Notre Dame. If not for the Irish not having 11 men on the field, the Irish still might be undefeated. Ohio State has had slow starts all season, and starting slowly against Penn State might hurt the Buckeyes.
Seems like the Nittany Lions have had some magic against the Buckeyes. The real test for Penn State is against Michigan. But the Penn State must win this game to keep their playoff hopes alive. So I will take Penn State, and I will take the over.
Tennessee vs. Alabama (-9.0) over/under 48.5- Ceasers
- Date: October 21, 2023
- Game Time: 3:30 pm
- Venue: Bryant-Denny Stadium (Tuscaloosa, Al)
- How to Watch: CBS
- Streaming on fuboTV
Alabama is a highly flawed team. Tennessee is a highly flawed team. Both teams already have a loss; Alabama is the only team with a playoff chance. The Vols are still living off of last year’s win against Alabama. Honestly, I think the fan base is so thrilled with what happened last year that they do not care about what happened this year. I could be completely wrong. I do not think Tennessee has the offense to put up the points they need to pull this off. All that preseason hype about Joe Milton went away. Do not get me wrong; the guy has a rocket of an arm, but his touch and accuracy are issues.
The key to this matchup is the two weaknesses of both teams: Alabama’s offense vs. Tennessee’s defense. Can Alabama move the ball enough to put them in a spot to win the game? I think Alabama and their fans want revenge for last year. So I will take Alabama to win the game. I am not sure they cover, however. But I will take the tide and the over in this one. I do that begrudgingly.
South Carolina vs. Missouri (-7.0) over/under 60.0- Ceasers
- Date: October 21, 2023
- Game Time: 3:30 pm
- Venue: Memorial Stadium/Faurot Feild (Columbia, Mo)
- How to Watch: SEC Network
- Streaming on fuboTV
The showdown of schools in Columbia! Yeah, it’s not that exciting, is it? South Carolina made Shane Beamer and me look like idiots last week. What was that choke job against Flordia? The Gamecocks had that game all but won, and they just choked it away. What happened to Cocktober? It’s just a waste.
I keep betting against Mizzou because I am not a believer. I thought Kentucky would beat them last week, and boy was I wrong. But sometimes, you have something about a team, and you cannot get it out. I cannot believe in Mizzou. Have you seen their defense? It has to be the worst in the conference. I am not a fan of the Tigers. I have held a grudge ever since they came into the league. SEC and Mizzou do not feel like a good fit. But I have to pick them to win this game. Luther Brunden is probably one of the best players in College football, and nobody is giving him the love he deserves. The guy is an unbelievable player. Because of that, I will go with the Tigers over South Carolina. Cocktober came and went, and it did not last long at all. A story as old as time. Give me Mizzou, and the over this one will be a barn-burner.
Look, if you are following my picks, thank you. But also fade me, I am ice cold this season. It is to the point I am thinking about just giving up here. It is a sad state of affairs. But the picks must go on, so I continue to hustle them out to the public. Anyway, enjoy the bye week. Next week, we all have to put our collective energy into hating Flordia, which is not hard to do; there is a lot of material there. See y’all on the other side.
