Even though Georgia football was idle this weekend, they still sit number one in the newest AP Poll. Georgia could slip down to the number 2 slot because of the bye week, but they still are the number one team by a wide margin of votes.

Let me be honest: I don’t care much for the polls until November. It means nothing until we get closer to the end of the season. But that is because of the playoffs. Polls used to matter. So, thanks to all the casuals who wanted a playoff!

It is Georgia and Michigan and everyone else. There is a gap between Georgia and Michigan. But Ohio State, FSU, and Washington are all flawed teams. Furthermore, Oklahoma and Texas should have lost on Saturday. The bottom line is that the top teams in the country are all imperfect; it comes down to who they play at the end of the year.

I think that Georgia will still be the number 1 team in the country until further notice. But also, when it comes time for the CFP rankings, they might bump the Dawgs down some. Speaking of someone down on the Dawgs, our dear old friend Dan Mullen gave his top 10 rankings after week 8.

Dan seems to be a little salty. I don’t know about y’all, but I’m a team that has not lost in two years and is the back-to-back champs to stay at number one. I don’t make the rules; that’s how it’s been since the start of college football.

At times, Georgia has not looked like the number-one team, and that’s okay. But Dan says the Dawgs are the worst undefeated team at number six? What?  That does not make a lick of sense. But thankfully, Dan Mullen does not have a vote, and many people ignore what he has to say. It’s off-topic, but I enjoy it when ESPN gets Mullen to talk about Florida’s issues every Saturday. It just gives me pleasure knowing he created the problems, and Florida fans are probably losing their minds when he talks Flordia football.

More importantly, for another week, the Dawgs are back-to-back champions and the number-one team in the land. But even more importantly, Georgia-Florida week. Who cares about the rankings! There is only one thing that matters, and that’s beating Flordia.

Hot. What does the SEC East standings look like right now?. light
