Is Kendall Milton playing vs. Florida? Latest injury updates
By Josh Yourish
Georgia running back Kendall Milton has been limited much of this season with hamstring and knee injuries that have held him to just 36 total carries in five games. Milton reaggravated an MCL sprain against Vanderbilt in Week 7, but with Georgia on a bye last week, he is probable to play against the Florida Gators in Week 9.
Milton has rushed for 196 yards on his 36 carries this season with three touchdowns, but was limited to just five carries against Vanderbilt in Week 7 before reinjuring his knee. Milton is averaging 5.4 yards per carry this season.
Last year, Milton ran for an average of 7.0 yards per carry and finished the year with 592 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, but would feature more prominently in the offense if consistently healthy. He’s unlikely to be the workhorse this week, that will again fall to Daijun Edwards who has rushed for a team-high 460 yards and six touchdowns on 80 carries.
Milton’s biggest workload of 2023 came in Week 6 against Kentucky when he ran the ball six times for 47 yards and a touchdown in Georgia’s 51-13 win over the Wildcats. Even with a new quarterback in Carson Beck, Georgia is fifth in passing offense this season. However, with Brock Bowers out injured, Milton could provide some much-needed balance for the 48th-ranked rushing offense.
Georgia is a 14.5-point favorite over Florida at a neutral site this weekend. The Bulldogs’ SEC East rival is 5-2 on the season.
Kendall Milton injury update:
Milton is PROBABLE for Georgia’s matchup against Florida. However, he is still unlikely to take over the lead role in the backfield.
