Georgia football is taking on Tennessee this Saturday in a highly anticipated matchup. It is one of the few games this week featuring two ranked teams playing each other. Next week is the big week for college football, but this week’s games are not great. The SEC slate could be better, too. There are only three games in the SEC, with two conference teams facing off. But it is week 12, and the CFB season is almost over. So, better enjoy it while it lasts. Soon, it will be late February, and all that is on TV is regular season NBA games.

I once again want to tell you I am red hot on picks. For the season, I am 20-19. I am one game above .500; this is a strong finish, considering how I started. Last week, I went 2-1, with the sole loss coming from my belief in Arkansas players caring about their coach. Instead, they wanted to believe in Santa Claus and watch Polar Express. If you watch the movie at halftime, it could motivate you with its message. So, I will not be betting on the Razorbacks anymore. Alright, let us get into the picks for this week.

North Carolina vs. Clemson ( -7.0) over/under 59.5- Ceasers

  • Date: November 18th, 2023
  • Game Time: 3:30 pm
  • Venue: Memorial Stadium (Clemson, SC)
  • How to Watch: ESPN

Why is an ACC game being picked on here? Well, a lot of the SEC games suck, and it is hard to pick UT-Chattanooga versus Alabama. So, I picked the school closest to Georgia that played a big game. Sadly, that was Clemson. I watched Clemson dismantle Notre Dame and Georgia Tech in back-to-back weeks. Since Tyler in Spartanburg called Dabo, Clemson has looked like a different team. Everyone at Clemson should thank Tyler for the turnaround that he inspired.

For some reason, I also watched UNC vs. Duke last week. No, it was not a basketball game but a football game. Duke is a decent team, but UNC should not have gone into overtime to squeak one out against their rivals. Furthermore, UNC should have lost that game and should have lost it a few times. They were lucky to get out of there with a victory.

With all that being said, the smart play is to take UNC. But I am not smart, and Dabo wants to play in a good bowl game. So, I will take Clemson with the points to win this one. Here’s a little preview of next week’s picks: Clemson might want to win against UNC because they will have their hands complete with the Gamecocks.

Flordia vs. Missouri ( -11.5 ) over/under 59.0- Ceasers

  • Date: November 18th, 2023
  • Game Time: 7:30 pm
  • Venue: Memorial Stadium/ Faurot Field (Columbia, MO)
  • How to Watch: ESPN
  • Streaming on FuboTV

Let’s take a moment to laugh at Flordia and Tennessee. Okay, are you done? I’m not! Florida had hopes of competing in the SEC East race. Boy, has that failed miserably! All that talk after the South Carolina game (a game Florida should have lost) and now fighting to get into a bowl game. I just hate to see Florida down that bad. Not really!

I also want to thank our friends in the “Gateway to the West,” Missouri. They ran all over Tennessee and crushed the Volunteers’ dreams of back-dooring into an SEC Championship. This Mizzou team is outstanding, and I do not think they are getting the respect they deserve. If this year were the start of the 12-team playoff, I would not want to play Mizzou. They would be a tough out. Mizzou has dreams of playing in a NY6 bowl, and they cannot afford a loss at home against a bad Florida team. I think the Tigers will not only cover, but I believe they will crush Flordia.

If Florida is the team, what do you do? Your most significant rival has won back-to-back national championships and is in the hunt for a third. Your in-state rival will more than likely go to the playoffs. Furthermore, your 2024 schedule is even more challenging than this year’s, and recruits are de-committing left and right. You are not likely to go to a bowl game. Should you fire Billy Naiper? I would hate it if they did, but the move here is to fire him. Anyway, give me Mizzou.

Kentucky vs. South Carolina ( +1.5 ) over/under 53.5- Ceasers

  • Date: November 18th, 2023
  • Game Time: 7:30 pm
  • Venue: Williams-Brice Stadium (Columbia, SC)
  • How to Watch: SEC Network
  • Streaming on FuboTV

Boy, was I wrong about Kentucky? I was sold on them early in the season. I thought they found their quarterback and had good wide receivers. The Wildcats do not have any of that. Kentucky could be a better football team, or at least average. They just stink. Speaking of stinking, this game will be played in Columbia, South Carolina. I take no pleasure in beating up on South Carolina, especially when they are down this bad. But the entire fanbase is delusional, and it is my way of helping them.

South Carolina is fighting to become bowl-eligible. To do so, they must win out, meaning they must beat Kentucky and Clemson. Both games are at home for the Gamecocks. This is the same scenario last year when the Gamecocks got hot and beat Tennessee and Clemson in back-to-back weeks.  Could it happen again?

Going into the season, I was high on Kentucky, and I have a soft spot for them. But their fans are now all concerned about basketball season. So, if the football team loses, it is not a big deal. I will go with South Carolina because they want it more. Do I like it, my pick? No, but I think it is the smart play here.

Week 12 picks are in, and I am pulling to stay above .500 for another week. Next week will be filled with picks because it is Thanksgiving, and who likes to bet on games while you gorge yourself on Turkey? Also, next week’s picks will be out on Wednesday of next week rather than Thursday—just a reminder to those who care about that. Also, check the site Friday for my  Georgia vs. Tennessee preview and prediction. Some people will be a little upset; I apologize in advance.
