While the Georgia Bulldogs are traveling to face off against Auburn in the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry, plenty of other games are going on in the college football world. Specifically, there are some crucial games going on that will greatly impact how Georgia's season will look from here on out.
Here are the three most critical games for Georgia outside of their game against Auburn during week seven.
1. Oklahoma vs Texas
The Red River Rivalry will always be a crucial game, no matter what the AP Poll or records might say. Oklahoma has been hot as of late, as they are still undefeated with their quarterback John Mateer atop of majority of Heisman boards. However, Texas will be Texas. They still have Arch Manning and a stacked defense.
Mateer has been dealing with an injury, but it is looking like he will be available to play against the Longhorns. But the Longhorns have still been favored to win for most of the week. Texas winning would not only prove anyone in the SEC can lose but would leave the race to Atlanta even more wide open than it was after their loss to Florida last week.
2. Alabama vs Missouri
At first glance, fans might not think much of this game. Alabama has always been Alabama, and Missouri has always been Missouri. Missouri has their impressive years every now and then but cannot quite get over the hump against the blue bloods of college football.
However, this Missouri team is looking to be different. Missouri scored one of the most impactful transfers in the SEC in quarterback Beau Pribula. If they find a way to upset Alabama at home, the whole outlook of the SEC changes. Alabama no longer becomes a favorite and Missouri jumps them to the top of the conference. With Missouri's schedule being light for SEC standards, they could very well find themselves in Atlanta if they get it done versus the Crimson Tide.
3. Arkansas vs Tennessee
So far this season, Tennessee is Georgia's best win of the season, and it is not even close. Besides Tennessee, the next best team Georgia has beat is 2-3 Kentucky.
Tennessee plays at home against Arkansas that is under new, but familiar, leadership with Bobby Petrino. Tennessee nearly dropped their game against Mississippi State, and their resume is not that great themselves. If they get upset at home against Arkansas, Georgia's strength of record diminishes greatly.
If that happens, it could be a whole lot harder for Georgia to find themselves in the College Football Playoff later this season.
