Georgia football is officially back. The Bulldogs are a few days away from opening their season against Marshall, and hope is sky high that Georgia will be able to repeat as SEC Champions.
These last few days of the offseason is the last chance for Georgia fans to make their final predictions about the season ahead, so here are three bold predictions for UGA’s upcoming 2025 season.
Gunner Stockton becomes a top 3 SEC QB
Gunner Stockton doesn’t need to be a superhero this season for Georgia to have a good year. But what if he was? What if Stockton was one of the top three quarterbacks in the SEC this season?
If Stockton turns into one of the best quarterbacks in the conference then Georgia will be the favorite to win the SEC. Stockton definitely has the weapons around him that will help him all season long, so there is a slim chance he blossoms into a top three quarterback in the SEC this season.
Georgia has a 1,000 yard receiver
It’s time for Georgia to have a wide receiver reach 1,000 yards. This has only happened once in the history of Georgia football when Terrence Edwards reached 1,004 yards in 2002.
The most likely player to pull that off this season is USC transfer Zachariah Branch. He is the player in Georgia’s wide receiver room who can make a big play whenever he wants, so if someone is going to reach this mark it will be him.
Branch will need Stockton to become an elite QB like the first prediction suggests, but if Stockton and Branch both reach their potential the Bulldogs could have a new single season receiving yards leader after this season.
Georgia loses to rival Auburn
There are a few games on Georgia’s schedule this season that everyone could see them losing. Alabama and Texas immediately jump out as falling into that category, and their rivalry matchup with Florida could give Georgia some issues as well.
But their meeting at Auburn this season is one game that not enough people are talking about.
Auburn made out very well in the Transfer Portal this offseason, especially at wide receiver. So the Tigers offense has a chance to be able to score a lot of points and keep up with their opponent every game this season. On top of that, Georgia plays Auburn the night they are retiring Cam Newton’s jersey. So that may just be the extra motivation Auburn needs this year to finally beat Georgia.
A loss to Auburn could really derail UGA’s season this year, so if the Bulldogs do lose a game it would be nice for it to not be to Auburn. Unfortunately this is a very realistic game that Georgia could fall short in this season.
