Winning a College Football Playoff game is no question a team effort. However, there will always have to be a handful of players that step up in a major way and deliver in the spotlight.
For the Georgia Bulldogs, there are plenty of candidates who could do that in their quarterfinal matchup in the Sugar Bowl against Ole Miss. Specifically, there are three Bulldogs who could make a huge impact for Georgia on New Year's Day.
1. DB JaCorey Thomas
Somewhat of a surprise player for Georgia this season, defensive back JaCorey Thomas has been a reliable presence in the Bulldogs secondary this season. The senior safety has been the perfect hybrid safety for Georgia and especially as of late.
He had his best game of the season against Alabama in the SEC Championship where he had six total tackles and a sack. As Glenn Schumann has generated more pass rush with linebackers and the secondary in recent games, don't expect things to change against Ole Miss. Thomas will likely be flying around the field in the Sugar Bowl just like he did in the SEC Championship game.
2. DL Christen Miller
Christen Miller is a guy on this team that took a while to show his true talent, but once he did he became an unstoppable force.
In the month of November he has had 11 total tackles and 1.5 sacks. All of his season sacks so far on the year and over 50 percent of his total tackles came in November as well. Miller had not quite gotten into his groove when Ole Miss came to Athens earlier this season, so he will be looking to make a much larger impact this time around.
3. RB Nate Frazier
In Georgia's first matchup with Ole Miss, Nate Frazier had his season-high in carries with 17. However, he only gained 72 yards out of those carries. Although that is still a solid number, it is still somewhat disappointing given he was handed the football that many times.
This time around, Frazier has gained more traction and has become a much more impactful player for this Georgia offense. The Rebels defense against Tulane in the first round of the playoff allowed 115 total rushing yards. Frazier will be looking to take advantage of that and likely with a similar number of touches as Mike Bobo looks to keep the Ole Miss offense off the field.
