Georgia football is just one day away from their opening round College Football Playoff game at the Sugar Bowl against Notre Dame. The Irish are coming off a first round win against Indiana 27-17 which is their 11th straight victory and 12th of the season. So it goes without saying that Notre Dame is playing with a lot of confidence right now.
But Georgia is feeling just as confident as well and they are ready to prove eveyrone wrong who thinks they can't win without Carson Beck.
So in order for Georgia to do just that, here are three important keys for the Bulldogs in their showdown against the Irish.
1. Get Gunner Stockton comfortable early
Arguably the most important thing Georgia needs to do in this game, especially early, is get Gunner Stockton comfortable. It was nice that Stockton got to play in the second half of the SEC Championship game, but starting a College Football Playoff game is a whole nother beast.
So what can Kirby Smart and Georgia do to help him get comfortable? UGA first needs to get Stockton involved in the run game as early as possible. We all saw how well he and the rest of the team responded against Texas in the second half when he ran over a Texas defender, so if he can make another big play like that early in the game then that will help the entire team out.
It's also crucial that Stockton completes a couple simple throws early in the game as well. A lot of people think Stockton is just a runner, but he is a lot more than that. So if Stockton can complete his first few passes then he will have the confidence to sling it around the field like Beck was known for doing.
