Georgia football is officially back after they defeated Tennessee 31-17 on Saturday night. The entire country was beginning to doubt if this team was even capable of being a threat in the College Football Playoff, but Georgia did what they always do and showed the rest of the country that they aren’t going anywhere.

This win was massive for so many reasons, but there are three reasons why this win was extremely important for Georgia.

1. College Football Playoff hopes

Georgia football was on the outside looking in when it came to the College Football Playoff. That however all changed with their win on Saturday over Tennessee.

This is now the third win over a current CFP team this season, which should be enough to move the Bulldogs back into the 12-team field. Sure Georgia has two losses, but the strength of their schedule and number of ranked wins should trump that now.

Georgia still has to handle their business against UMass and Georgia Tech these next two weeks, but as long as they win both, Georgia will have no concerns about being included in the 12-team playoff this season.
