3. College Football Playoffs are not a guarantee
After Georgia beat Texas a few weeks back, it felt like making the College Football Playoffs was a foregone conclusion. Even after Georgia struggled a little last week agaist Florida, it still felt impossible that this team would miss the CFP.
Fast forward to Saturday night however and Georgia hasn't felt this far from the playoff picture in at least half a decade.
To be fair, Georgia will likely still be in the top 12 of the CFP rankings when the updated rankings are released on Tuesday, but that doesn't even matter. This team did not look like one of the top 12 teams on Saturday, and if they keep playing the way that they did then they surely will be left out in the final rankings.
Georgia has to win their last three games if they want to have a chance at making the playoffs. That is not a guarantee. Up next is a top 10 Tennessee team. Sure this game is at home, but that won't matter if they play this poorly again.
After that UGA does have an easy win against UMass, but they end their season with Georgia Tech. That is far from an automatic win after the Yellow Jackets just handed Miami (FL) their first loss of the season on Saturday.
It's crazy how fast things can change in college football, but as it stands today Georgia has a tough path just to make it into the CFP at the end of the season.
