2. Defensive woes are concerning

The biggest thing that did not go well for Georgia against UMass was their defense. UMass got off to a hot start offensively, and reminded everyone what Georgia’s defense struggles with most. A mobile and physical QB.

Georgia had issues with that against Florida before DJ Lagway got injured, and they had major issues with that again today. However, it is a lot more concerning seeing UGA struggle against that type of player on UMass.

On top of struggling with that style of quarterback, the defense just didn’t look ready to play today. There were countless moments where it seemed like they gave up on the play too soon, with some of those plays resulting and big gains. Overall it just wasn’t a great day for Georgia’s defense.

Hopefully this is just a case of playing down to their opponent. If that’s all it was then there won’t be any concerns going forward because every game the rest of the season will be big. But regardless of how Georgia fans try to spin it, this performance from the defense is not what anyone wanted to see.
