3 takeaways from Georgia's epic win over Georgia Tech
It's the next morning after Georgia football's eight overtime win over Georgia Tech, and in all honesty it still does not feel real. Georgia looked like they were going to get blown out in their own stadium, but the Bulldogs did what true champions do and fought back and won this game.
Everyone could likely come up with at least one hundred takeaways from this game, but here are the top three that are still on my mind the following morning after this epic win from Georgia.
1. Dan Jackson is the MVP
DB Dan Jackson is the MVP of this game. Without his heroics on Friday night, Georgia probably doesn't win this game.
Jackson had a big sack in the sixth overtime that extended the game, but the biggest play in the entire game came with three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter when he forced a fumble from Georgia Tech QB Haynes King. This turnover led to Georgia tying the game at 27 just a few plays later.
Would Georgia have still won this game without that turnover? Probably not. The Yellow Jackets would have burned a lot more clock and punted the ball back to Georgia, giving them very little time to drive the length of the field.
But Jackson didn't want that to happen. He made the biggest play of the game on a Georgia defense that struggled all night long, but his play towards the end of the game deserves more credit than anyone else for helping bring Georgia back into this game.
