The transfer portal is set to open again this month for about 10 days, meaning that everything that is crazy about college football will take center stage once again. And while most Georgia football fans might hope UGA avoids the craziness, that is unlikely to happen.

So what can Georgia fans expect to happen in the portal this spring? Here are a few things that UGA fans should look out for.

Anything is possible

As everyone knows, Georgia has two options fighting to become the starting quarterback this fall, and one of those options is Ryan Puglisi. However, Rusty Mansell with On3 shared that a few schools have been reaching out to Puglisi and attempting to convince him to enter the transfer portal this spring.

Thankfully Mansell shared that Puglisi has shown zero interest and does not plan to enter the portal. This is great news for Georgia because there is a very real chance Puglisi wins the starting job this year, and if he doesn’t then UGA will have one of the best backups in the country.

But this update shows Georgia fans that anything is possible. Any player on the roster could decide to enter the portal even, if they seem very unlikely to do so. So it’s wise to always enter transfer portal season knowing that quite literally anything can happen.

Expect to lose multiple players

Georgia fans should also expect to lose some players to the transfer portal this spring as well. It’s unclear who those players could be, but it should be expected for some to depart.

The reason this will happen is because Georgia is currently over the max roster limit they need to be under by the fall, so naturally players lower on the depth chart might notice that and move on themselves. If not, then the coaching staff might have to kindly ask them to leave for their own benefit and so Georgia can get under the roster limit.

Top positions to target in the portal

While Georgia will likely lose a handful of players to the portal this spring, they will most certainly be on the prowl looking for some additions as well. But which positions could they target?

One position of need is EDGE, so expect Georgia to be aggressive there. On top of that, Kirby Smart pursued a few transfer quarterbacks this spring already, so it would not be surprising to see that happen again this spring as well since Georgia did not have any luck earlier this year.
