Georgia's season has come to a crashing end in the Sugar Bowl as they fell to Ole Miss 39-34. This will turn into a night that Georgia fans will want to forget, but with the loss being so fresh it is impossible to not dwell on all the negative feelings coursing through all of Bulldog nation.
There are countless takeaways from this game, but these four things will stick with Georgia fans for as long as football is played in Athens.
1. Georgia defense forgot to show up
Where did the defense go that Georgia fans had seen for the last month and a half? Everyone knew how great the Ole Miss offense was coming into this game, so no one expected them to hold them to less than 10 points like Georgia had done the last four games. But they were nowhere near good enough to win.
The Ole Miss offense was able to do whatever they wanted Thursday night. They were even able to march down the field with less than a minute to play and no timeouts to kick a game-winning field goal. That is something that just never happens to Georgia, but on this night it did.
Georgia needed to play much better on both sides of the ball, but 34 points should have been enough to win this game. And even though they did score a defensive touchdown, the performance from the defense overall was not good enough.
