Miami (FL) has been a serious thorn in Georgia’s side this offseason. The Hurricanes typically aren’t a team most fans think of as a direct competitor for Georgia on the field or in recruiting, but Miami has had Georgia’s number on the recruiting trail recently.

Not only did Miami steal quarterback Carson Beck from Georgia back in January, but they also flipped four-star corner Jontavius Wyman from UGA in April as well. These developments caused Georgia fans to want nothing more than to get a recruiting win over the Hurricanes. Unfortunately for Georgia fans, nothing has happened yet that would give them a chance to flaunt a win over the Hurricanes.

That is until wide receiver commit Vance Spafford broke the heart of Miami fans on Wednesday while simultaneously giving Georgia fans a brief moment to celebrate.

Vance Spafford is no longer interested in Miami

Nearly every Georgia commit has completely shut their recruitment down and ended any chance of them flipping elsewhere. Spafford however is one of the few UGA commits who has not done that.

In fact, Spafford has taken many visits since committing to Georgia last November, with west coast schools like Washington and UCLA dominating those efforts. Miami was another team expecting to host Spafford on a visit this weekend, but Spafford decided on Wednesday to cancel that visit at the last second.

This is great news for Georgia because it means there is one less team UGA needs to worry about when it comes to flipping Spafford from Georgia. However, there are still other schools who are after him that he appears to be listening to, so UGA isn’t out of the woods yet.

But for now, Georgia fans can celebrate this win over Miami, which is something that every UGA fan has been waiting a long time for.
