Georgia football is after a lot of the top players in the country, which includes many players ranked inside the top 100. One of those players is four-star linebacker Simeon Caldwell, who is the No. 95 overall player in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He is also the No. 7 linebacker in the 2026 recruiting class as well as the No. 12 player from his home state of Florida.

Caldwell announced a long list of upcoming visits on Friday, and Georgia found out they will be receiving one of those visits on March 11. This visit however is an unofficial visit, which isn't the worst news because getting a player this talented on campus is always a big deal.

But when looking at the rest of the visits Caldwell scheduled, it is easy to see that Georgia is trailing many other programs in this recruitment.

Georgia a step behind many programs

As mentioned, getting any visit from a top 100 player is a big win, but the magnitude of that decreases after seeing the rest of the teams getting a visit. Georgia is one of four schools who are getting an unofficial visit while Caldwell also announced four official visits as well. It's a known fact that official visits are what tells everyone who the top schools in a recruitment are, so it appears Georgia might be outside of Caldwell's top four right now.

On top of that, Ohio State not only is getting one of those four official visits, but he is also making two unofficial visits to the Buckeyes as well. So they appear to be the heavy favorite in this recruitment right now.

Things can obviously change in a hurry in any recruitment, but this is one no Georgia fan should be too excited about right now. But if Georgia's visit with Caldwell next week goes well, then maybe Georgia can earn an additional visit which would mean they are firmly in the race for Caldwell.
