4-star Semaj Stanford takes needless jab at Georgia while committing to Oregon

One of the great things about being Georgia is that kids grow up wanting to play football here. That's what happens when a program finds a lot of success, and Kirby Smart has taken full advantage of that.

From time to time that leads to Georgia earning commitments from some really good players. But some recruits have other things that matter to them more, and that was the case with four-star safety Semaj Stanford.

Stanford committed to Oregon over Georgia and a few other schools on Thursday. Obviously it would've been nice to win this recruitment, but at the end of the day it really wasn't a big deal. What is a big deal though is the unnecessary shot Stanford unloaded on Georgia while discussing what led him to choose the Ducks.

”My dream school was Georgia - I feel like I had to put my dreams aside to go with what’s best for me.”

Semaj Stanford unloads verbal attack on Georgia after committing to Oregon

Why was this comment even necessary? Stanford chose Oregon over Georgia which was already bad enough, but to take a shot like this just wasn’t needed.

Stanford is essentially saying that he doesn’t believe Georgia is a good enough school to develop him into the player he wants to be. If he thought they were then he would’ve committed to Georgia, but for whatever reason he didn’t think so and that’s what led him to Oregon.

But is anyone sure Oregon is much better at developing players than Georgia? Not only has Georgia had a lot more success on the field compared to Oregon, but they also have sent more players to the NFL. In fact, no team in the country has sent more players to the NFL over the last few years than Georgia.

It seem more likely that Stanford chose Oregon because they had a higher NIL offer, and if that is the case he should’ve just said that instead of taking this jab at Georgia.
