5. Is Brett Thorson ready to play?

There is another injured Bulldog impacting Georgia that fans need to pay close attention to, and that is punter Brett Thorson.

Thorson suffered a significant knee injury during the SEC Championship game last year, and he did not play against Marshall because of that injury. According to Kirby Smart during his press conference on Tuesday, he has still not been cleared to play. It does however sound like Thorson could be cleared to play any day now, and that realistically could occur before Georgia’s game against Austin Peay.

Thorson was named a preseason All-American entering this season, so it’s clear how important he is to the success of Georgia’s special teams. Georgia’s backup punter has actually been playing very well in his absence, but UGA can’t hit their peak without Thorson. So hopefully he is able to play against Austin Peay so his first game back isn’t on the road against Tennessee in a hostile environment.
