Lack of turnovers and sacks

The two biggest plays a defense can make are forcing turnovers and sacking the quarterback. If a team is able to dominate these stats they are pretty much guaranteed to win the game.

Unfortunately Georgia did the opposite of dominate when it comes to these two stats.

Georgia entered this game with just four sacks in their first three games combined. That is extremely bad considering two of those games were against lesser opponents. The hope was that Georgia would get to the quarterback more often against Alabama, but that didn't happen as UGA recorded just one sack in this game.

To make matters even worse, Geogia didn't force a turnover all night either.

It is hard to win a game against a great Alabama team with that formula, and the lack of big defensive plays ended up costing Georgia big time.
