3rd down woes
One of the biggest indicators of how a football game is going is what transpires on third downs. Usually the team that outperforms on third downs on both sides of the ball wins the game, and that is exactly what happened Saturday night.
Alabama's offense was out of this world when it came to converting on third downs as they picked up the first down on 13 of their 19 attempts. This included beginning the game going eight for eight on third downs in the first two drives of the game.
On the flip side, Georgia was only able to convert on just two of their eight third down attempts.
This discrepancy arguably is the biggest reason why Alabama won this game and something Georgia is going to have to improve on going forward.
