Georgia football has been the best team on the recruiting trail over the past few years. Two years ago the Bulldogs finished with the No. 1 cranked 2024 recruiting class. This was followed up by Georgia signing the second ranked 2025 recruiting class last year.

Kirby Smart and Georgia would love nothing more than to take back the top spot and sign the No. 1 class in the 2026 recruiting cycle. Currently Georgia sits at No. 2 in the recruiting rankings, but there are quite a few teams who could finish at No. 1. So what does Georgia need to do to accomplish that?

Obviously they need to earn some more commitments if they want to finish No. 1, but these five recruitments likely will decide if Georgia finishes with the No. 1 class in the country or not.

1. 5-star LB Tyler Atkinson

Tyler Atkinson is the No. 1 linebacker in the country and easily the recruit left on Georgia's recruiting board that UGA fans know best. Atkinson has visited Athens 15 times throughout his recruitment, which included an official visit back in June. He also visited Clemson, Oregon and Texas while also having Ohio State still in the running as well.

But it's been heavily reported that Georgia has been the leader for Atkinson for a few months now, with Texas not far behind the Bulldogs.

Unfortunately a commitment date for Atkinson isn't known yet, but some reports indicate it could happen in July or early August. Regardless, Georgia has led in this recruitment for long enough that it would be a huge surprise if UGA lost this battle.
