One of the top corners still available in the 2026 recruiting class was five-star Chauncey Kennon. July 6 marked Kenon's commitment date, and Georgia was one of Kennon's four finalists.
Unfortunately Kennon decided to stay in the state of Florida and commit to Florida State over Georgia, Florida and LSU.

Florida State beats out Georgia for 5-star corner
According to 247Sports, Kennon is the No. 27 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 2 corner in the 2026 recruiting class and the No. 4 player from his home state of Florida.
Kennon may not be a name many Georgia fans knew much about, but the Bulldogs did aggressively target him. Georgia hosted Kennon on his official visit on June 6, but that visit clearly didn't go well enough for Kennon to commit to Georgia.
While missing on any five-star recruit isn't a good thing, this loss really isn't all that bad for Georgia. The Bulldogs already have three corners committed to their 2026 recruiting class, and all three are ranked inside the top 200 according to 247Sports. This includes Justice Fitzpatrick at No. 87, Cayden Harris at No. 94 and Chace Calicut at No. 190.
Even though UGA does already have these three elite corners committed to their class, they definitely would have made room for Kennon. But the fact that Georgia has these three impressive corners in their class already didn't make this recruitment as important as others.
Georgia is still in a great spot with three five-star recruits which includes tight end Kaiden Prothro. Prothro plans to announce his commitment on July 12, so Georgia fans may not have to wait much longer to see UGA add their next five-star player to their recruiting class.
But until that happens, Georgia will have to move on from this loss to Florida State which really shouldn't be that difficult to do.
