Five-star running back Kemon Spell is quickly becoming one of the best Georgia commits of all time. It is kind of easy to do that considering he is the No. 7 overall player in the country, but his impact on the program has been far beyond that.
So how did Spell end up at Georgia in the first place? What was his commitment to the program like?
Spell recently took to social media to discuss his commitment to Georgia, and he told a very fun story of the moment that he officially committed to UGA.
"Coach, I got something to say."

"Hold on, let me get the staff."@KemonJones9 breaks down the moment he committed to Kirby Smart and why the "home" feeling in Athens is unlike anything else. When you want to be pushed to the NFL, you come to Georgia.#GoDawgs #UGA #DawgNation… pic.twitter.com/LdXTrJDHBz
Kemon Spell's commitment story is as good as it gets
Georgia had a big recruiting event the final weekend of January. They hosted countless elite recruits on campus that weekend, and that included Spell.
Entering this visit no one thought Georgia was the leader in his recruitment. There's even a chance Kirby Smart and his staff thought they had to make up some ground as well. Everyone thought this because Spell had already been predicted to commit to Notre Dame and Penn State, so Georgia seemed like a distant third.
But Spell shocked the college football world by committing to Georgia right after this visit. But in reality he told the coaching staff during his visit that he was committed, but Smart made him pause right before committing.
Spell was about to say that he was committing to Georgia, but Smart made him stop. He did this so he could get more members of the coaching staff in the room because he knew what was coming. And after gathering some more coaches he let Spell commit which one can imagine led to a big celebration.
Stories like this are awesome because it shows just how great the culture is in Athens. And it's that culture that ultimately helped lead Spell to commit to Georgia in the first place.
