Georgia football commit Jared Curtis has been showing a lot of interest in Vanderbilt throughout the past month. This dates back to when he took two visits to Vanderbilt when College GameDay came to Nashville, but at the time he said he had no interest in actually flipping to the Commodores.

Everyone saw through that statement because more and more news kept coming out about the likelihood of him flipping to Vanderbilt. Unfortunately that news became official on Tuesday as Rivals recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong reported that Curtis has officially decommitted from Georgia and flipped his commitment to Vanderbilt.

Jared Curtis gives Georgia the worst news possible

Curtis is the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class who has been committed to Georgia since May. Since he committed to Georgia he has been a leader in their class as he has been working to help bring as many players to Georgia with him. But all it took was one push from Vanderbilt to change his mind, and unfortunately this is the second time he has done so in his recruitment.

Curtis has been committed to Georgia two separate times in his recruitment. In March of 2024 he committed to UGA for the first time before decommitting later that year in October. Since he had over a year left in his recruitment this wasn’t that big of a deal, and it turned out that he still felt Georgia was the right place for him as he committed to Georgia again in May. Unfortunately he’s decided to ditch Georgia once again, leaving them high and dry one day before signing day.

It’s unclear if Georgia has any backup plans to replace Curtis. It’s possible they do not because they were all in on Curtis coming to Georgia, so it’s very unfortunate that Curtis didn’t feel the same way.

Georgia will get their chance at revenge though because Georgia and Vanderbilt are scheduled to play next season, and Curtis will more than likely be their starting quarterback. So the Bulldogs will undoubtedly look to show him how big of a mistake he made.
