Georgia football is reportedly the leader for five-star tight end Kaiden Prothro. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Prothro is the No. 3 tight end in the 2026 recruiting class and the No . 25 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 3 player from the state of Georgia as well.

After Georgia missed on the No. 1 tight end in the country, their recruitment of Prothro became even more important. The Bulldogs already hosted Prothro on an official visit this summer, and all accounts point towards that visit going very well for UGA. But Prothro still had four more schools to visit this month, so there was a long way to go in his recruitment still.

Prothro is fresh off a visit to rival Auburn this past weekend, and a recent quote from Prothro shows that this visit went pretty well. In fact, it sounds like Auburn is close to surpassing Georgia for the lead in his recruitment right now. But while the below quote from Prothro does indicate his visit to Auburn went well, it also shows that the Tigers still trail Georgia.

"I'd say it's pretty close right now."

Georgia still on top for 5-star TE Kaiden Prothro

The above quote could be a little concerning because it specifically states that Auburn is close to Georgia in Prothro's recruitment. But the fact that he was unable to say that Auburn is tied with Georgia shows how much of a gap there still is between Georgia and Auburn in this recruitment.

Recruits are never as high on a program as they are immediately after they visit a school. So since Prothro just completed his visit to Auburn, this likely is the best he will ever feel about them throughout his recruitment. So the fact that Auburn is still behind Georgia shows that they likely will never be able to surpass the Bulldogs.

Time will tell if this thought process is correct, but for now it still appears that Georgia is the leader for Prothro with two more official visits to Florida and Texas up next.
