Georgia remained undefeated this season after destroying Arkansas on the road in their SEC opener 45-17. The Razorbacks may end up being the worst team in the conference this season though, so this result should be taken with a grain of salt.
Putting that to the side though there were five players who stood out as big winners for Georgia and a couple who underperformed.
5 Georgia winners from the Week 3 rout of Arkansas
QB Gunner Stockton
Gunner Stockton wasn't asked to do much with his arm on Saturday, but when he was asked to throw the ball he delivered. He finished the game completing 10 of 13 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown, but it was what he did with his legs that was special.
Through the first two games of the season Stockton only ran the ball once, and it wasn't even a designed run. That changed against Arkansas as he ran for 97 yards on seven carries which included a 63-yard scamper on his first designed run of the season.
Stockton hasn't faced a good defense yet this season, but he deserves credit for handling his business anyways. He has shown an improved arm and the same running ability that made him special last year, so it will be interesting to see how he does against a good Oklahoma defense next week.
TE Lawson Luckie
Lawson Luckie was supposed to be the alpha in Georgia's tight end room this season, but through the first two games he only had one catch. That changed on Saturday as he hauled in three catches for 59 yards (second most on the team) and his first touchdown of the season.
Georgia's depth at tight end is unreal, but they need Luckie to be a leader both on and off the field. Hopefully Saturday's game at Arkansas is what propels him to have a big season now that their schedule is ramping up.
DB KJ Bolden
KJ Bolden was an enforcer all game long in Georgia's secondary. He finished the day with four tackles and one pass breakup, but he had multiple massive hits that probably made Arkansas' receivers think twice about running his way again.
Bolden is a projected first round pick at the upcoming NFL Draft, so he is supposed to be one of Georgia's best defenders this season. If he can keep striking fear into opposing offenses though then he could take his game to another level still.
WR Craig Dandridge
Craig Dandridge is quickly emerging as one of Georgia's top options at wide receiver. He is a true freshman so this is a bit surprising, but after leading the team with 74 receiving yards to go with three catches and a touchdown it's hard to ignore him.
Dandridge has earned more playing time for the foreseeable future. It remains to be seen how he'll stack up against a legit SEC defense, but he will have a chance to prove himself next week against Oklahoma.
QB Ryan Puglisi
Ryan Puglisi was competing for the backup quarterback job with Ryan Montgomery into the start of this season. After the second game of the year it appeared he officially won the backup job for the year, and his performance against Arkansas confirmed that yet again.
He got limited playing time in this game, but he completed seven of eight passes for 63 yards and one touchdown. Puglisi may not play the rest of the season, but he's shown he is ready to step in if he's needed.
The losers from Georgia's victory over Arkansas
DB Demello Jones
Demello Jones didn't have his best stuff early in the game. He responded well as the game progressed, so much so that Kirby Smart gave him a shoutout in his post game press conference, but he was getting picked on at the start of the game and gave up a few big plays.
Jones doesn't have the same expectations as the other stars in Georgia's secondary, but he is still a great player. If he can take his game to another level then it may be impossible for anyone to throw against this secondary, but if he struggles against better competition then he could end up being the top target for opposing quarterbacks to attack.
Georgia's pass protection
Georgia's offensive line was stellar in the run game, but their pass protection was average at best. They gave up three sacks in this game which is too many against an overmatched opponent like Arkansas, but they also let Gunner Stockton get hit far too many times as well.
Maybe they just got a little lazy since they still haven't faced a good defense yet this year, but they're going to have play much better next week when one of the best defenses in the SEC comes to Athens.
