Georgia football is just a couple hours away from kicking things off in the College Football Playoff at the Sugar Bowl. Georgia’s season up to this point can be characterized in many different ways, but the one thing that stands out the most is the vast amount of injuries they have had to deal with. And while the hope was that nearly a month off would lead to less injuries heading into their matchup with Notre Dame, that unfortunately hasn’t happened.
In fact, there are still six Bulldogs who are listed as out for Georgia’s quarterfinal matchup against the Irish.

Key Takeaways
The obvious first takeaway is the fact that quarterback Carson Beck is out for the biggest game of Georgia’s season. This obviously has been known for about a week now, but it is still a very scary thing seeing him listed on the official injury report.
Thankfully Georgia has backup Gunner Stockton stepping in who the team has expressed extreme confidence in. He also has proven himself in his limited action on the field when he helped lead Georgia to victory over Texas in the SEC Championship game, so UGA can most definitely overcome this injury.
The second biggest takeaway is that Georgia is continuing to suffer significant injuries at running back. UGA will be without two key backs again for this game, which has been a common theme all season long.
Thankfully Georgia still has Trevor Etienne and Nate Frazier who are an elite duo in the backfield, so UGA should be fine rolling with those two. But all it takes is one injury and the running back room will be in a very sticky situation once again.
However, Georgia’s been able to overcome these injuries all season long, so hopefully they’ll be able to continue to do that against Notre Dame.
