Stetson Bennett is in the last year of his contract with the Rams, but there's been talk throughout training camp about how he may not make it with the Rams to the end of the season. The Rams have already said they won't be cutting him, but he could be someone the Rams trade away.
There are a few teams out there who may be willing to take a chance on him, but the Cleveland Browns offer the opportunity to reunite Bennett with Todd Monken who was his offensive coordinator from his days at Georgia who he won two national championships with.
Stetson Bennett could be the answer the Cleveland Browns need at quarterback
Stetson Bennett hasn't officially won the backup quarterback job in LA, but it appears to be trending that way. He however may still not be the Rams' long term quarterback option since they drafted Ty Simpson in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
So instead of having Bennett sit on the sideline all year just to walk in free agency next offseason they could try to trade him to get something in return. The Browns may be the perfect team to trade with.
Not only would Bennett reunite with his former offensive coordinator who is now the head coach of the Browns, but he could potentially solve the Browns' quarterback problem. The Browns just named Deshaun Watson as their starting quarterback for the upcoming season just days after fans boo'd him off the field. Their backup, Shedeur Sanders, also hasn't done anything to prove he belongs on an NFL field during the regular season either.
Bennett on the other hand has shined when he's stepped foot on the field during a preseason game. Sure he hasn't had a chance in the regular season yet, but at this point many fans and analysts believe he has shown enough potential to deserve a chance.
There are a few other teams that could be interested in trading for Bennett, but the Browns make a lot of sense for more than a few reasons.

Browns head coach Todd Monken knows how to win with Stetson Bennett. He already won two national championships with him at Georgia, so he may be one of the NFL coaches best equipped to help Bennett succeed.
Many Georgia fans are confident that Bennett can win in the NFL if he is given a chance. They also love Todd Monken for all the work he did to help Georgia win two national titles during his three-year stint with the program. So seeing Bennett and Monken link up again could make a lot of Georgia fans turn into Browns fans.
The Rams first have to show interest in trading Bennett, and so far that has not happened. If they believe in Ty Simpson enough to use a first round pick on him then one could assume they should be able to trust him as their backup, and if that's the case then it may be smart to trade Bennett at some point this year. Some Georgia fans want him in Atlanta, but if that doesn't happen then a reunion with Monken in Cleveland would be a good consolation prize.
