Georgia's biggest competition in the SEC has always been Alabama. They were the one team that Georgia struggled to overcome when Kirby Smart took over as head coach, and that caused so many headaches that still scar UGA fans to this day.
Georgia however is the new king of the SEC. They have finally overcome Alabama and they will do anything to make sure it stays that way.
But the Crimson Tide appear to be helping Georgia stay on top as they currently have the No. 45 recruiting class in the country. And with only 8 percent of four and five-star players uncommitted, it may be too late for them to fix their recruiting class.
92% of blue-chip recruits (4 and 5-star) have already committed.

For 19 straight years, Alabama has signed a @247Sports Composite Top 5 class.
That streak ends this year and there's a possibility Alabama doesn't even finish in the Top 25. pic.twitter.com/KXZwjJhX28
Alabama may no longer be a concern for Georgia
Georgia proclaimed to the college football world that they no longer have an Alabama problem after they beat the Crimson Tide in the 2025 SEC Championship game. This victory left no doubt that Georgia is the best program in the SEC which is a title that Alabama held for nearly two decades. But now it's important for UGA to never lose their claim to the top spot in the SEC.
All signs point to Georgia having a great season this year, but the same could be said for Alabama too. But in the long run Alabama may not be able to compete anymore because of how bad their recruiting class is this year.
There is always a chance that Alabama could hit the Transfer Portal hard to make up for their poor recruiting class, but as it stands today the Tide won't be much of a threat to Georgia in a few years.
Georgia is dangerously close to joining Alabama as the SEC’s biggest embarrassment
For as bad as Alabama's recruiting class is, Georgia's really isn't that much better. As of today the Bulldogs have the No. 17 recruiting class in the country which is better than No. 45, but it still isn't where Georgia wants to be. The No. 17 class in the country will struggle to compete for National Championships, and if that's the case does it really matter if Georgia's class is a little better than Alabama's?
Something needs to change soon if Georgia is going to remain at the top of the college football world. Some may argue that their recruiting ranking is irrelevant at this point in the year, but Georgia has never been ranked this low under Smart. Does he have time to fix it? Absolutely, but every day that passes will make it more difficult to climb up the recruiting rankings.
Georgia is already setup to have an elite 2028 recruiting class as they hold a commitment from the No. 1 quarterback in the country Jayden Wade along with Asa Wall who is the No. 6 tight end in the country. If they can continue recruiting that class well then Georgia will be able to afford a subpar 2027 class, but in a perfect world their 2027 recruiting class will get much better too.
Only time will tell how all of this unfolds, but it is convenient that Alabama's recruiting class is much worse than Georgia's so everyone can point and laugh at the Tide instead of them.
