Georgia football and Kirby Smart are inching closer to their quarterfinal matchup in the College Football Playoff. But there is still a good amount of time to wait for that game.

However, that hasn’t stopped ESPN from announcing who will be calling Georgia’s game on TV at the Sugar Bowl, even though the Bulldogs still don’t even know who they’ll be playing yet. And Georgia fans luckily are getting one of the top TV crews in the entire country calling their quarterfinal matchup on Jan. 1.

Announcers set for Sugar Bowl

Georgia football fans will get to hear a very familiar TV crew call the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1 on ESPN. According to an ESPN press release, Sean McDonough and Greg McElroy will be calling the game on TV. Molly McGrath will also be joining the crew and will be roaming the sidelines as well.

It really is no surprise to see some of the best crews get assigned to the College Football Playoff games, and in Georgia’s case they get one of the top crews ESPN has to offer. The best crew however will be calling the Rose Bowl quarterfinal game, but Georgia could hear that crew later in the playoffs.

This crew is the elite duo of Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler along with Holly Rowe. However, they are also scheduled to call the National Championship game, so the Bulldogs would get that crew if they win their first two CFP games. Specific assignments haven’t been released for the semifinal games yet, but this crew will be calling one of those two games which obviously could feature the Bulldogs.

Georgia’s first CFP game is approaching quickly, but be sure to tune into the matchup featuring 7-seed Notre Dame and 10-seed Indiana Friday night as the winner of this game will face Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.
