Another report puts Georgia's NIL in a bad light

Georgia fans better hope that this report is not true.

One of the most important things in college football nowadays is NIL. It's unfortunate that so many recruits care so much about making as much money as possible while in college, but that is just how things are in today's day and age.

When looking at it from Georgia football's perspective, this has been a good change for their program. Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs have one of the best NIL programs in the country and have been able to use that to their advantage in the NIL era. That's why UGA has been able to win two SEC and National Championships in the last four years.

But a report came out two weeks ago saying that Georgia may not have as much NIL as some people originally thought. And unfortunately for UGA, that rumor was spread once again by The Sporting News' writer Andrew Hughes.

"It’s been discovered that Georgia isn’t much of a high-spending NIL powerhouse as Smart simply knows how to recruit the old-school way."

What happens if this report is true?

As time has gone on in the NIL era, it seems like every recruiting class has cared more about NIL than the previous class. So if Georgia in fact does not have as great of an NIL program then future recruits may not be interested in Georgia for that reason alone.

But it's hard to know if this report is actually true or just a rumor. The biggest reason being that UGA is still signing the best recruiting classes in the country every year, so until they start to struggle on the recruiting trail then it's hard to believe this claim.

Thankfully Georgia has Smart and his staff who have proven to be elite recruiters when you take NIL money out of the picture. So that is one way that Georgia can stay competitive on the recruiting trail even if they are slightly behind in terms of NIL. But for now, Georgia is continuing to recruit at a high level and is still finding success on the field, so there is no reason for Georgia fans to be worried yet.
