AP Poll refuses to move Georgia up after win vs Florida

Georgia football just won their fourth game in a row after taking down Florida 24-20 on Saturday. Typically when teams win this many games in a row they shoot up the AP Poll rankings, but that hasn't been the case for Georgia. In fact, the Bulldogs have held steady at No. 5 for the third week in a row even though they are one of the hottest teams in the country.

Is this an example of the AP Poll disrespecting Georgia? Or do they have a good reason to keep UGA at No. 5 like they have been?

Georgia has work to do to impress the AP Poll

Taking a quick peak at the four teams above Georgia shows why the Bulldogs have remained at No. 5 in the AP Poll for three weeks in a row. Ohio State and Indiana both just won in dominant fashion on Saturday, and since they are both undefeated they deserve to remain above Georgia. Then there is Texas A&M who didn't play on Saturday, but the fact they are undefeated as well is good enough for them to remain at No. 3.

Last but not least is Alabama who does have one loss on the season, but their win over Georgia gives them a clear edge to remain above UGA at No. 4.

Georgia unfortunately won't be able to pass any of these teams until they lose, but as long as UGA keeps winning they will remain in position to climb the AP Poll rankings once a team does lose.

The AP Poll unfortunately takes a back seat beginning this week as the first edition of the College Football Playoff rankings will be released on Tuesday. Those are the only rankings that hold any value, so Georgia will soon learn how the CFP committee views them at this point in the season.
