The week two AP Poll is out and Georgia football has climbed one spot to No. 4. Like everyone expected, Ohio State is the new No. 1 team in the country after their win over Texas, and Penn State remained at No. 2. But the team that’s slotted directly above Georgia at No. 3 confirms the AP voters fell for ESPN’s anti-Georgia bias.

LSU jumps Georgia in latest AP Poll

Georgia football was questioned all offseason long. Many college football experts and analysts questioned the Bulldogs entering the 2025 season because of the large amount of turnover their roster saw and the difficult schedule they face this season.

Leading the charge on that front was ESPN who had countless analysts continue to discredit Georgia every chance they got. So how did UGA respond? They went out and dominated Marshall 45-7 in their season opener.

The average person would see that as a very positive result for Georgia and not negatively impact their ranking entering week two. And while Georgia did move up one spot in the updated AP Poll rankings, SEC rival LSU leapfrogged Georgia after their win.

To be fair, LSU did have an extremely impressive win as they went on the road and took down Clemson 17-10. No one can argue that is a better win on paper than Georgia’s win over Marshall, but was it good enough to move LSU past Georgia? Likely not.

Georgia did everything they should have against Marshall, so it looks like they are being punished just because they played a weaker opponent.

At the end of the day this ranking doesn’t mean all that much, as long as Georgia keeps winning everything will take care of itself. But it is frustrating to see the AP voters confirm the bias that exists against Georgia that UGA had to deal with all offseason.
