No one wanted to see Georgia win an SEC Championship again this season. The reigning champion always has the biggest target on their back every season, so every other team wanting nothing more than to see Georgia fall short of repeating as conference champions.
Texas QB Arch Manning and Alabama QA Ty Simpson went out of their way to try and ensure Georgia wouldn't win the conference again. Unfortunately for them their efforts to help each other fell short and Georgia was crowned the champions of the SEC for the second year in a row.
Arch Manning, Ty Simpson did everything they could to beat Georgia
It wasn't easy for Georgia to repeat as champions, but they were able to accomplish that after dominating Alabama 28-7 last weekend. Even if every team wanted to beat Georgia and dethrone them as the reigning champion, they were unable to do that and the Bulldogs took home the conference crown again this year.
Manning and Simpson however went out of their way to try and make sure that Georgia would not win the conference again. Before Georgia played Texas reports came out that Manning and Simpson were working with each other and giving each other advice when they played a common opponent. Manning even confirmed that Simpson was giving him advice on how to beat Georgia. That however did not end up helping because Georgia beat the Longhorns in dominant fashion 35-10.
Fast forward to the SEC Championship game last weekend and Georgia was able to get their revenge against the Crimson Tide when they won by 21 points.
So even though two of the best quarterbacks in the SEC were helping each other out, they were not able to prevent Georgia from winning the conference. Winning the SEC already felt really good, but the fact that these two tried to collude against Georgia and failed makes this championship feel that much better.
