Gunner Stockton has had nothing short of a prolific year for the Georgia Bulldogs. The redshirt junior in his first full year as starting quarterback finished No. 7 in the final voting for Heisman Trophy which is nothing short of spectacular.
With so much success paired with a humble personality, one would think that the national media would pay attention. Bleacher Report debunked this assumption. However, is that such a bad thing for Georgia?
Bleacher Report gifts Georgia Spark for Playoffs
Bleacher Report released their final top 50 quarterback rankings in the nation earlier this week. According to their list, Stockton is the 20th best quarterback in the country. But according to Heisman voters, that does not add up.
Not even voters, but the stats heavily disagree with this just the same. A shocking 17 out of the 19 players ranked above Stockton finished with just as many, if not more, interceptions than he did in 2025. In fact, former Bulldog Carson Beck finished with double the amount of interceptions but was somehow ranked above Stockton at 19. To make this more confusing, only three quarterbacks above Stockton in these rankings were above him in the Heisman voting.
One might think that Georgia would be discouraged by these rankings. However, Kirby Smart probably loves it.
Smart loves when his Georgia team is doubted. In fact, these Bulldogs have been doubted all season long. Smart will likely use this news to push his team to play even harder in the playoffs.
At this point everyone should expect a big game from Stockton in the Sugar Bowl as well as the rest of the team who want to help him prove this list wrong. But one piece of information that will make this game that much more fun for Stockton is the fact that both Ole Miss and Tulane's quarterbacks were listed above Stockton in these rankings.
