Brock Bowers is a beast. No Georgia football fan will be surprised reading that, but maybe we all should be since he’s dominating the NFL just like he did at the college level.
Bowers had a special career at Georgia that saw him cement himself as one of the best tight ends of all time in college football. But it is never a guarantee that a player will find similar success when they move on to the NFL.
Bowers however is no average player as what he is currently doing in the NFL with the Las Vegas Raiders is something that has never been done before.
Brock Bowers is on pace to shatter multiple NFL records
So far this season, Bowers has recorded 101 receptions for 1,067 yards and four touchdowns. Those 101 receptions is already an NFL record for rookie tight ends, but Bowers is on pace to set another record as well.
Bowers’ 1,067 receiving yards is good enough to be third best among rookie tight ends all time. So what everyone is wondering now is how many more yards he will need to set that record.
Hall of Famer Mike Ditka is the current record holder for most receiving yards from a rookie tight end in NFL history. He set this record in 1961 with 1,076 yards. So Bowers only needs 10 more yards to set that record as well. And with two games remaining this season, that record will likely be his in the first quarter of the Raiders next game.
Watching Bowers’ career unfold is going to be such a treat over the next decade or so. He has already shown that he is one of the top tight ends in the league, so just imagine how much better he will be after a few more years of experience under his belt.
It’s wrong to ever predict any player to end up becoming the best of all time at their position during their rookie season, but so far Bowers has shown that he has the ability to challenge all the great tight ends for that title.
