Carson Beck injured as first half of SEC Championship Game ends: Latest update on Georgia QB
Georgia football finds themselves down 6-3 as they head to halftime in the SEC Championship game against Texas. The Bulldogs defense played very well and forced a lot of field goal attempts from the Longhorns while UGA's offense was unable to get anything going.
Texas outgained Georgia 260-54 and also had 12 first downs compared to Georgia's five. Georgia also had negative two rush yards in the first half as well, which is very concerning.
But the thing that was the most concerning by far is QB Carson Beck. Not only was this not his greatest half of football, but Beck suffered a very scary injury on the final play of the first half.
Carson Beck goes down with scary arm injury
Georgia was attempting to throw a Hail Mary on the final play of the first half, and as Beck was going into his throwing motion he was hit from behind right on his throwing arm by a Texas defender. The camera followed the play as Texas attempted to return the fumble, but after the play ended the camera panned back to Beck who had countless athletic trainers surrounding him.
Beck was able to get up and walk off on his own, and his arm didn't appear to need any support as he was heading to the locker room. But any injury to a QBs throwing arm is very scary.
Beck did not start for Georgia in the second half as he was replaced by Gunner Stockton. So far this season, Stockton has completed 13 of 16 passes for 135 yards. But none of his snaps came in a moment even comparable to this, so we will have to see how he responds.
Regardless, Kirby Smart and Georgia need to find a way of getting some momentum going on offense. Texas has dominated Georgia's offense in every aspect of the game so far, but as long as Georgia's defense keeps getting stops then it may not take much offense for UGA to win this game.
