Georgia quarterback Carson Beck could have gone pro last year, and probably would have been selected very high in the draft, but he ultimately made the decision to return to Georgia for one final season. This decision surprised some as he had a very good season last year as he finished third in the country in passing yards while completing 72 percent of his passes and throwing for 24 touchdowns.

However, this season hasn't been as great so far for Beck as his completion percentage has dropped and he has already surpassed his interception total from last year after just seven games.

But that hasn't stopped Beck from being projected as a very high draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

According to CBS Sports, Beck is projected to be selected by the New York Giants in the first round with the 9th overall pick of the draft. The Giants are still currently in the Daniel Jones experiment, but this selection by them would indicate an end to that experiment so they can try something new.

And Beck would be their new QB that they would attempt to build their team around.

It is a little surprising to see Beck projected this high on NFL Draft boards because of his struggles this season. Beck is on pace to finish with more passing yards and touchdowns this season, but that has more to do with Georgia being a pass happy team this year. As mentioned, Beck's completion percentage this year has dropped nearly 6 percetage points and he has already thrown more interceptions than all of last season.

That is a better indicator of how this season has gone for Beck so far.

But maybe it still shouldn't be that much of a surprise to see Beck projected this high. Beck does have all the tools an NFL team would want in a quarterback including leadership, drive, determination and someone who isn't a distraction off the field. Beck also proves every game that he can make high level NFL throws, even if his completion percentage has dipped this season.

So even with Beck's struggles this year, he still has been a solid quarterback. Georgia football fans always have high expectations for their players, so maybe that is where some of their disappointment is stemming from. But Beck is clearly doing something right to be projected this high by CBS Sports, so let's hope his play improves and maybe he'll climb even higher up the draft boards.
